John Cena is Back
John Cena is back. He talks about what has happened since he has been gone, including the Triple Threat Match tonight. He says that the winner will face him at Royal Rumble. Why? Because he is John Cena and he can. He says this is the “My Time Is Now Era” and not the “New Era.” Cena drops the microphone and walks out of the ring.
It was longer than I typed, as he hyped the crowd up for the night and then really turned in an excellent and simple promo. Why does John Cena get a title match? Well, he is basically telling everyone he can get whatever he wants. I really liked it and thought that it can be a very slow and methodical approach to him becoming a heel.
Wait, nevermind. John Cena will NEVER be a heel. John Cena is in a class of his own when it comes to heel vs. face. He will always blur the line of both, but an attitude adjustment (pun intended) where he becomes a little more angry and aggressive on the mic could be exactly what he needs to stay fresh and at the top of his game. No matter who he faces, John Cena makes that person even more important. As for his match at the Royal Rumble, his opponent will be one that has already shown he can put on excellent matches against the former champion.
Renee, Maryse, Miz and Dean
The Miz was in his locker room all night and said he will only get interviewed by Renee Young. Later in the night, Young comes to his locker and Maryse wants to basically throw down. This gets The Miz involved and he talks to Renee about his 2016 and what he is going to do in 2017. As she tells security to back off, Dean Ambrose appears in a security shirt behind him. This leads to Ambrose attacking him and laying waste to the Intercontinental Champion.
Another really solid segment that broke apart a few matches, with the continued development of this interesting storyline. I was skeptical at first, but WWE was able to show you that Renee Young can still do her job while being added into a storyline. Once again, The Miz is at the top of his game. This is his best work in his career and Dean Ambrose is a really great dance partner for this championship. It creates so many avenues and opportunities for both men.
