Reigns tries to fight out of it, but Owens cuts him off and sends him to the outside. Owens tosses Reigns into the barricade. Owens tries to get back in the ring, but Reigns hits him with the drive-by. Back in the ring, Reigns finally completes his ten corner clotheslines, followed by a Samoan drop for a two count. Owens and Reigns trade strikes in the ring. Reigns catches Owens’ foot and powerbombs him for another near fall. Reigns nails the Superman punch, but Owens kicks out. Jericho distracts Reigns, which allows Owens to hit a Codebreaker on Reigns. Reigns kicks out. Rollins runs to ringside and Pedigrees Jericho. Reigns Spears Owens to get the win. A nice way to end WWE RAW, but surprising to see WWE continue to have the heels basically lose clean. I am still under the belief that Jericho vs. Owens should be the WWE Universal Championship match at WrestleMania. They had to slow the pacing down a bit, as a split as coming too soon and they realized it. At the end of the night, you are still waiting for Triple H to appear, finding out Roman Reigns’ story in 2017 and remembering that KO and Jericho are STILL the most entertaining part of WWE RAW.
2017 begins next week and we will see Goldberg. I think the road to WrestleMania starts now and you are beginning to get an insight on some of the plans they have going forward. I would be very surprised if WWE gives Roman Reigns the Universal Championship at Royal Rumble. That would be a big mistake. He is in the perfect spot and would greatly help someone who could use it. A guy like Braun for the United States Championship would remind me of Rusev vs. Cena at WrestleMania 31. A polarizing figure vs. a traditional heel who needs main event power to back him. The Universal Championship needs to stay with Kevin Owens.
