Number 1: AJ Styles
There was not a better overall performer in the ring than AJ Styles. 2016 was his coming out party to the WWE Universe and he has certainly shined brighter than any other super. From his debut at the Royal Rumble, to a shocking loss to Chris Jericho at WrestleMania, he immediately bounced back the next night and took on Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules. When the draft happened and he was sent to Smackdown, you knew that Styles was going to be a champion.
Let us not forget his best match of the year, which took place against John Cena at SummerSlam. When you think about the top matches of 2016, Styles could arguably be involved in 4 of those. That is crazy to think, but the man is on another level right now and we finally realize what we have been missing from him. When his career is over, you will see so many incredible matches from Styles from all over the world. Is there a bigger platform, though, for Styles now than the WWE?
2016 was a year that gave us new talent, familiar faces and history making moments that will live on forever. I am excited to see how 2017 stacks up. All the complaining and misinformed individuals who constantly bicker about a bad product should read these five gifts and dissect how different WWE is now from a fans perspective. Hell, 2017 better be a hell of a ride.
