Number 3: Women’s Wrestling
Talk about changing the game. Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Becky Lynch and others have changed how the world views women in a professional wrestling ring. With history being made time and time again, there are more instances of me watching intently on these talented women over many of the talented men. They needed to be taken seriously, but they needed the right women. They got the right balance from NXT and the main roster, giving us new faces and new feuds.
I have been bashed when comparing Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks as a modern day Rock vs. Austin. What I simply meant by that is both pairs of talent are by far the best in the business and they proved it time and time again. Both worked so great together in the ring and were able to develop full and interesting storylines. The women changed the game and put so much pressure on many of the guys to perform at a high level. 2017 is going to be even better, with Bayley getting her shot while Charlotte continues her dominance.
These women are sexy without WWE degrading them to make them look sexy. They are strong and talented individuals who constantly put on excellent matches. I thank 2016 for making me forget about the Ashley Massaro and Candice Michelle matches. It reminded me of Trish and Lita, but so much better.
