On The Same Page
The Odd Couple of Cesaro and Sheamus hit a positive note on WWE RAW tonight, with a victory over Kofi Kingston and Big E. The New Day picked up the offense when Big E came in and hit three belly to belly suplexes. He would throw Kofi to the outside, but Cesaro caught him with a massive uppercut. Big E was distracted and Sheamus hit a Brogue Kick to knock out the champions. Cesaro and Sheamus picked up a nice win.
They had to show some sort of companionship before their championship match, even if it was still ending with an argument of sorts. I do like this pairing and always enjoy their battles, but I do think it is too soon for them to be champions. If you really want them to succeed, invest time and effort into it. Have them come SO CLOSE, only to lose to The New Day. Make sure they are on the same page and ultimately become friends and allies. This is a good start and their offense speaks for itself. I am excited to see how they lose on Sunday and if WWE really wants them to be more than a six week storyline.
Arm Wrestling With Dana Brooke
Dana Brooke comes out and then Bayley follows. Dana says she does not want a wrestling match, but an arm wrestling match. So, a table comes into the ring and Dana wins the first round. The second seems to be Bayley’s victory, until Dana picks her and beats her down.
So, that was pretty awful. It was not creative whatsoever and did nothing to help either woman. Bayley is simply waiting in the wings for her time to chase the championship, but I feel like this segment fell flat in terms of crowd interest and logic. Dana is a BODYBUILDER. Bayley is the underdog. Build them this way. Both have completely different looks and talents, which is why I think tonight’s segment crashed and burned. It just did not connect and wasted an opportunity for Bayley to get revenge.
