Isenberg Reacts: WWE Battleground “Solidifying The Youth, Spotlighting the Veterans”

John Cena, Enzo and Cass Defeated The Club

Six man tag team action at WWE Battleground provided some exciting spots, some dramatic turns and a look to the future. Is there anyone more over than Enzo and Cass right now? It is a simple answer and it is NO! Are there better heels in the business right now than The Club? Nope. Not close.

I love the combination of all three Club members, even if this is the last time they are together. Gallows is your muscle, big bumps and slows the pace down when needed. AJ Styles is the splash, the flash and the dazzle. Karl Anderson might be the most sound wrestler out of the bunch. He makes big splashes when needed, but does a lot of the dirty work that goes unrecognized by some of the casual wrestling fans.

The match itself did good things for everyone involved. Do I love the outcome? No, but I understand it. It will set up for another Styles vs. Cena match at SummerSlam. Styles needed to take the loss against Cena to continue further their ability to one up the other. An AA from the ropes was sold to perfection from Styles and this ends the night for the heels. It was consistently look from beginning to end and really helped drive home the point of young, or new, talent taking over the WWE.

A Refreshed Randy Orton

Randy Orton comes out and talks about being back, Brock Lesnar and SummerSlam. The best part of his speech was emphasizing that he does not need “enhancements.” Orton jabs at Brock Lesnar’s failed drug test, which I think can be used to really push their feud. Get personal, make jabs at Orton quitting the Army and talk about his failed marriage. When you have a feud with Lesnar, it tends to be the same thing over and over. Yes, it has worked but Randy is a different breed. He is someone that fans got complacent with and now can come back and still accomplish some great things.

I wonder when Brock comes back to television. I wonder if Paul Heyman speaks for Lesnar before seeing him at SummerSlam. How would YOU book this feud? Also, can they use Chris Jericho in some sort over the next month? He has history with being a guy that Paul Heyman has helped.
