The Returns and Changes
Cesaro returned to Raw in the main event of the night. What a great way for WWE to bring him back, to a crowd that is notoriously known for backing him. It makes him look more important getting put into an immediately important match. I did not expect him to win, but did expect a great showing and a way for the fans to reconnect with him from the first step onto the stage. The suit, the sunglasses and the intensity he showed is exactly why he is valuable and deserves a HUGE push. Just think if he was healthy and could potentially face Brock Lesnar instead of Dean Ambrose. That would have been a million times more believable.
King Barrett was attacked by his former partners after losing to The New Day. After this attack, The Wyatt Family appeared and attacked The League of Nations. It looks like WWE is going to FINALLY push The Wyatt Family as faces. Here is my only issue: they have constantly had 6 man tag team matches over the years and where has it gotten them? I see a handful of these matches taking place over the next few months, which makes them stagnant. Maybe because they are going to be faces that WWE has a plan for them afterwards. I am not sure what that plan will be. As for Barrett, I want him to do something out of this, but fear that it will be the same song and dance for a very talented and mismanaged superstar.
With the help of the returning Maryse, The Miz defeated Zack Ryder to win his fifth WWE Intercontinental Championship. As much as I understand what The Miz provides, I still think this was the wrong decision. Instead of a guy that can win the championship at any time, I would have preferred an NXT guy or a recent call-up to defeat Ryder. I suspect he gets his rematch on Raw, but the guy had his one moment. Again, I do not agree with this decision. Either let Ryder ride it out a bit or have a new guy take the very popular face down.
