Miz Puts Over AJ Styles
MizTV has been brutal recently for me to watch. It really never does anything for me in terms of building a storyline or helping other’s get over. Tonight, it was a bit different. I thought The Miz did EXACTLY what he needed to do to get the Birmingham, Alabama crowd behind AJ Styles. A larger city would not need something like this, but the crowd loved booing The Miz. Styles looking like a ticking timebomb, waiting for his moment to jump at the chance of beating down The Miz. When he did, the crowd loved it. Simple and effective. I do think a heel Chris Jericho on the Highlight Reel could have been STELLAR, but this was still a really good piece of television for both men.
What To Make of the Divas Division
Charlotte and Brie Bella do battle on Raw. With a distraction backfiring, Brie picks up the win over the champion. It was a relatively good match, even though Ric on the apron looked ridiculous. He is trying too hard right now and it’s affecting Charlotte in a negative way. Sasha Banks comes out later in the night and talks about how she is going on her own. She leaves Tamina and Naomi behind.
What this tells me is a two-fold: Brie Bella will get one championship match as a filler at WWE Fastlane. Although she is a good wrestler, there is simply many women above her that deserves a shot at the title. This also tells me that WWE is fully in on Sasha Banks being a part of WrestleMania. They kept her off of television for close to a month to let everyone’s heart want her. It worked and her promo abilities and technical ability in the ring makes her a prime candidate for a championship match in Dallas.
