Highlight Reel and Main Event
Six man main event with Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho facing off against The Wyatt Family. Reigns and Ambrose were guests on the Highlight reel pumping up the main event at WWE Fastlane. Wyatt’s interrupt from backstage and talk about Brock Lesnar. This leads to our main event on Smackdown.
After an excellent match, Big Show comes out and knocks out Harper and Rowan. He stands face to face with Braun Strowman. Big Show pushes Strowman over the top rope. Bray goes for Sister Abigail to Reigns, but Roman counters with a Superman Punch. Chris Jericho and Ambrose sends Erick Rowan over the top rope. Roman ends it with a Spear to Harper to close the show.
Both segments were really effective tonight. I thought that having Chris Jericho doing the show meant he was going to slowly transition into a heel, which is desperately needed from him right now. I was surprised to see Big Show come out and make his 500th turn in his career. If they want Braun vs. Big Show, I simply ask why? All that needs to be done is exactly what we saw tonight. Braun and Big Show can have a stare down followed by some physicality. This notion that WWE MUST give big guys a match against Big Show is ridiculous.
As for Dean and Roman, good stuff from both. Roman Reigns trying to be funny is too forced, especially with naturally charismatic personalities like Ambrose and Jericho to trump him. All you need to realize is to expect good matches and excellent in-ring stories for the next month. After that, it is all about staying healthy for these superstars.
