The Beginning of a Hardy Feud
A stellar promo to kick off Impact, with Jeff Hardy getting in the face of his brother, sister-in-law and Tyrus. Matt says that Jeff is not used to living in his shadows and that leads to some back and forth bashing. A championship match is made between the brothers later on in the night.
We get to the final segment with a title supposedly up for Jeff’s taking.
Young comes out and complains about Jeff Hardy being the number one contender. Bram attacks Jeff from behind. Young and Bram begin to beatdown Jeff while Matt Hardy heads to the outside. Young brings out a table and places it on the outside. Beer Money comes out to make the save. Abyss and Crazy Steve come out to join the fray. Roode knocks Abyss over the top rope. Abyss and Storm brawl on top of the stage.
Beer Money, Crazy Steve and Abyss head to back. Kurt Angle comes down to the ring. Tyrus attacks Angle from behind. Matt grabs the TNA World Heavyweight Championship and strikes it across Angle’s face. Matt, Tyrus and Reby head to the back. Bram and Eric Young come back into the ring and Jeff begins to land a series of right hands. Jeff goes for the Twist of Fate off the ring apron. Young sends Hardy face first to the steel ring post. Young piledrives Jeff through a table.
Aside from this being a way to write Jeff off of television for the UK tour, I thought this was an excellent night for both men. The beginning of the feud was perfect. It felt real and felt emotional when they kicked off Impact. You do NOT want Matt getting his hands on Jeff too early, so Eric Young takes the lead and makes an Impact. A slow build is needed. TNA can rush things and make it interesting because they are brothers, but they need to develop a grand plan. Make the next 3 months about Jeff and Matt, adding pieces like Galloway, EC3 and Young along the way but never losing focus on your top stars. It can be GOLD, Jerry!
