Big Happenings In The Royal Rumble
AJ Styles Debuts
WOW! Talk about an incredible debut. AJ Styles comes out at three, gets an eruption from the crowd and everyone loved it. Styles lasted a while in the match and continued to get cheered for when he was eliminated. Kevin Owens eliminated him, which may be a nice change of rivalries for Owens. I just can’t see how he continues to chase the IC title when he lost clean. The music, the entrance, everything. I wish we saw the tron for his actual video, but nonetheless, he was spectacular and going to be a great fit in WWE. Well done.
Sami Zayn Enters
This was a nice debut on the main roster, but I think it was just a one night surprise. He needs to continue some feuds in NXT and headline their event in Dallas two nights before WrestleMania. He eliminated Kevin Owens, which continues their storyline from last year. Great pop for Zayn, a guy who everybody roots for.
It has to be Brock Lesnar vs. Bray Wyatt
These rumors of Braun Strowman are untrue, hopefully. I like his potential, but a match with Lesnar needs to be fast and physical. Bray can hold up MUCH better than Braun in a bell to bell match. Seeing Brock lose, thanks to The Wyatt Family, was instrumental in their continued pursuit of keeping Bray Wyatt important. Brock Lesnar should hit a quick detour at WWE Fastlane, potentially facing Luke Harper or Braun Strowman there to earn a shot at Bray. Make more than one guy over here, but keep the sole focus on the leader of the group. Brock and Bray will be different and fresh.
It’s Always About Roman Reigns
From taking a beating and being carted off to coming back, I did not LOVE that. Isn’t this about 1 versus all, not 1 versus a few, take a break and come back. Anyway, that is something much smaller to pick at, but Triple H at 30 was the ONLY LOGICAL CHOICE. I was surprised to see it come down to Ambrose and Triple H. It was actually really smart for WWE to do this. Dean Ambrose is one of the only faces that never gets booed. So, instead of having Reigns vs. Triple H at the end where the fans will cheer Triple H so loud, they eliminated Reigns and gave the fans a slight hope that Dean Ambrose becomes champion. It was the best and logical choice for a rather eventful Royal Rumble. If WWE wants to make Fastlane important, what do they do? Does Roman get a chance there or at WrestleMania?
