Why The WWE and Vince McMahon Can Only Lose To Themselves

Lack of Superstars:

When you look back, the WWE roster consisted of The Rock, Stone Cold, Triple H, The Undertaker, Kane, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels, Mankind, Bret Hart. These 10 guys are easily Hall of Fame material and can be talked about as some of the best talents EVER. Right now, name ten guaranteed Hall of Fame guys on television every week. You have John Cena and Randy Orton. Other than that, you are relegated to part time guys coming back and selling tickets. These ten guys were there every week, working at a high rate and establishing their legacy on a consistent basis. WWE had competition and they knew it, which stressed out Vince and MADE him make superstars. Now, everyone is .500 and he is okay with that.

Complacency:

When you have very little competition, you go into autopilot. Think about like this: You work for a company that does a very specific skill set. There are only a few companies like you in the world. Buying them out and dissolving your competition means you WON. Now, WWE realizes that they still have no competition, but the product is suffering. Finally, they try to please the consumer by making changes but still going back to the well and to what got them there. We all want to see new stars and want to see guys that we personally like succeed. It is hard to see something and forget about it, but it is possible. WWE lacks the ability to erase some of the history from their guys, whether it is in part to them or in part to the smart fans who call Bray Wyatt “Husky Harris” for whatever reason. This is also in part with a lack of creative storylines. Don’t tell me that they run out of ideas and have to recycle. Have you seen a movie in the theaters that is COMPLETELY ORIGINAL? EVER? NO. Whether you see Batman a billion times or whether you go see Star Wars, when an idea is good the consumer will appreciate it and give you their money.

At the end of the day (my favorite sports cliché), WWE needs to stop thinking inside of the box and think outside. Stop having a complacent mentality. When that happens and you don’t care about not having much competition, you begin to take financial hits. Thankfully, Vince is still a 900+ millionaire.

The Internet:

Whether it is spoilers or everyone blurting out their judgments, this is a big part as to why we cannot simply enjoy a product. You have jabroni’s like myself criticizing a sport that I have never tried. You get the “real” story and get more information about people that you want. Did we ever know about these talents’ lives 15-20 years ago? Not really. We did not know the backstage politics, who was boys with who and who Vince loved. So, maybe throw in social media and the world we live in. Constant judgments and criticisms from all different people stop us from trying to enjoy. Hell, we are accurate more often than not, but we never just sit back and try to enjoy. The internet is great and we will always come to Wrestlezone to find out the best information. We want information and it does make it better in some ways, but it is just not the same time in the world.

We always look for the negatives. We look for what we could have done better. We wish for the best, knowing we may never get that. All in all, there are many problems WWE has right now but I narrowed it down to these three. Vince has beaten everybody in this business. His only competition now is himself.
