Has The New Day Become Too Good?
The best match of the night featured The New Day and Lucha Dragons. They were given the night off from in-ring action on Raw but came back with exciting and intense competition on Smackdown. The New Day takes the clean loss, which makes complete sense for me. I like that right now because their win on Sunday means so much more than a loss on Smackdown.
Breaking down the WWE Tag Team Division is pretty simple. The New Day has the best act on television. With a combination of entertainment and excellent wrestling, they fit the perfect balance for a division like this. Also, swapping Xavier and Big E is smart. Depending on the competition, they can change out that piece but Kofi remains. Smart logic. I have never seen a team benefit more from a loss than Kalisto and Sin Cara. Why? The fans respect when there are not many botches during a match. They respect professionalism and a dedication to be the best. Lucha Dragons could be the best “wrestling” team in WWE.
Are The New Day bigger than the titles? I feel like this is a valid question. That’s like asking is John Cena bigger than the world title? Is it needed? Right now, New Day should keep the titles. Let them dominate for a few more months and potentially drop it in February. Tag Team Wrestling is thriving in WWE right now.
Becky Lynch defeated Brie Bella
The heel turn continues for Charlotte, who trips Brie Bella en route to Becky Lynch picking up the win. Nothing too much to note here aside from Becky being upset at Charlotte, which is going to lead to everyone turning their backs on Charlotte. I just see WWE using Paige and Becky as placeholders for this massive set-up with Sasha Banks. I think that is inevitable, but is it the right call?
Do you think Sasha deserves the main spot at WrestleMania? Will it be against Charlotte? I really do think they could make a Triple Threat or Fatal Four Way with these four and let them work 15-20 minutes on the grand stage. Haven’t they all deserved it?
