Overall the show was absolutely amazing. It reminded me what it was like to enjoy wrestling again. That might sound bad but in a time when WWE have been creatively struggling to perform week in and week out, this was the breath of fresh air that I needed as a fan. It connected with me on so many levels and I cannot thank the fans in attendance and everyone involved enough for the incredible show they provided on Sunday night.
Sami Zayn summed it up best by saying that London will have to do a lot to top this and I couldn’t agree more.
NXT Takeover London is such a pivotal event for WWE in the UK. This is being aired live on Wednesday afternoon in the States and it’s with a brand that connects deeply with their audience. I feel that this is a WWE dipping their toe in the water to see if it’s realistic for them to run PPV’s from the UK in future without the time zone having a negative impact.
I believe that if you’re a true WWE fan and want to see something, you’ll either make effort to watch it live (like most people in the UK who stay up to till 4am to watch RAW on Monday’s) or you’ll watch it when it’s most convenient to you but try to avoid spoilers throughout the day.
I hope NXT Takeover London succeeds. I’m genuinely excited that the UK is getting an important show which isn’t just a RAW or a SmackDown and it could be the stepping stones to much bigger things in the future. If you’re fortunate to be there for NXT Takeover London. Let your voice be heard and let’s get WWE treating the UK market with the respect it deserves.
