Whilst there is a massive upside with Cesaro, there are still areas of improvement. Cesaro still doesn’t appear to be confident on the microphone. This is a shame because he is a very likeable character when he has done interviews outside the realm of WWE TV. But like so many other superstars, translating yourself on WWE TV is not always an easy thing to do.
Comments made by Vince McMahon on the Steve Austin podcast didn’t help Cesaro either. Saying that the man hasn’t connected with the crowd for an unknown reason and then suggesting that it’s possibly ‘because he’s Swiss’ is frankly laughable. Cesaro has made a massive connection with the crowd which is largely based on respect for his skills and abilities in the ring.
I feel that Cesaro always seems to have the pressure of the world on him when he picks up the microphone. His articulation feels very cautious; like he’s worried he’ll make a gaff. As we know, when you try not to make a mistake, you end up making a mistake.
I feel that Cesaro just needs to relax on the microphone a little. If I were able, I’d book him in as many segments and matches as possible which involved him having to address the live crowd and TV audience.
The more you do something the more confident you feel in your abilities and the more he is given opportunity to speak on WWE TV, the more faith he’ll feel WWE has in him. It does concern me that it appears in WWE there is a culture that if you make a gaff on TV, you’ve had your shot. We all know that Cesaro could have a MASSIVE future with WWE. Let’s hope they give him a proper chance to capture the spotlight that he so richly deserves.
