WWE halted Daniel Bryan’s avalanche because it didn’t fit preconceived notions. Doing right by Banks, Charlotte, Lynch and the “new” WWE women’s division – and doing what’s best for business – certainly doesn’t fit Vince McMahon’s preconceived notion re: the place of women in his company.
For this to work, Vince needs to change. A big chunk of the attitude and philosophy of fake wrestling’s biggest cheese/ego ever has to undergo a significant overhaul if this is going to succeed.
Uh-oh.
Here’s the sad part: All Vince has to do to realize it’s the right thing is simply look around.
Sidebar: I was speaking with Bruce Mitchell of PWTorch.com, and he feels that Banks, Charlotte and Lynch should drop the booty shorts and quasi-stripper outfits in favor of more legit athletic gear, thus affecting a visual change, too.
I get the point: Rousey doesn’t wear booty shorts. But this is fake wrestling. Do you eliminate the glamor and sexuality? Then again, Rousey wears what she wears, and still retains both those elements.
