STEP UP: Roman Reigns
Reigns is definitely becoming more comfortable on the mic. I never thought he was truly bad, but at best his style was outdated. Roman still has a ways to go if he wants to convince me he’s ready to put the company on his back, but it seems that every week it becomes more and more a reality.
If there’s one thing WWE hasn’t failed to do, it’s put Roman Reigns over in a physical manner. He’s rarely beaten down, and there’s rarely an obstacle he can’t overcome.
The Raw Reunion segment with Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair was executed well. I still don’t know how psyched I am for a Big Show vs. Roman Reigns singles match at WWE Fast Lane (that seems to be where they’re headed), but I guess it works to get him ready for a WrestleMania main event, if that is where Sunday’s Rumble match indeed takes him.
I don’t know that HBK belonged in that group, which may be my only complaint. He would have been much better served the segment with The Ascension later on, representing DX with Sean Waltman (or, you know… Triple H). I did enjoy Flair doing a little stylin’ and profilin’, and even took a nice bump for Big Show. It made sense for Hogan and Flair to be in that ring; they’re both old, and a 450-pound giant is something to worry about. It wasn’t that long ago that Shawn Michaels was putting on 5-star matches with the Undertaker though.
