STEP UP: SETH ROLLINS
I have to hand it to Seth Rollins – he’s making John Cena look like an afterthought in this title match.
Cena is…being Cena. He’s doing that whole shtick where he charges up, yells a lot about the “champ being here”, and proclaims victory as if it weren’t already an inevitability. As if he hasn’t already won the title 15 times.
Seth is putting out some of the best work of his career, week after week. His promos have gotten better, and they were already in the top 10% of the roster to begin with. Seth has put heat on himself, and not just by association with The Authority.
Like I already said, I believe the booking points towards Rollins walking out of Philly with the world title. Is he ready for that kind of monstrous shove into the spotlight? Well… He’s already sort of been the center of attention for the last seven months of WWE programming.
Since June he’s ended the best faction to come along in a decade, he’s been a part of Evolution’s rebirth, praised as Triple H’s star pupil, and pushed as the future of sports entertainment. Maybe compared to some of the great champions of old Rollins isn’t where he needs to be, but by today’s standards there may not be a single person on the roster more ready.
