Wrestlezone Top 10: Wrestling Legends You Should Learn About on the WWE Network

#1 – Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat

"Ricky Steamboat is the greatest of all time to never be a world champion."

False. Ricky Steamboat was a world champion. He beat Ric Flair to become the NWA World Heavyweight Champion. The "Nature Boy" Ric Flair. The biggest icon in the history of NWA – possibly the greatest of all time. Not only was Steamboat a world champion, but he beat a guy that mattered.

The Dragon is my all-time favorite wrestler. Not all-around sports entertainer, but my favorite guy to step in the ring. Below is a list of matches you owe it to yourself to watch. And really, if you don't watch them, it's hard to trust you're a "hardcore wrestling fan". They are that good. Everyone references his match with Randy Savage at WrestleMania III, but that wasn't his best match. Not even his "most important" match.

Steamboat and Ric Flair wrestled three perfect matches, back to back to back. Name anybody in wrestling history that has met three times in four months, and each time produced a perfect 5-star match? Two of those matchs are on the WWE Network (GET CLASH OF CHAMPIONS ON THERE ALREADY!). Watch them. Right now. Call off work, go home sick, drop your kids off at a sitter, divorce your wife – I don't care, just watch these matches.

Matches to Watch:

  • vs. Randy Savage (WWE The Wrestling Classic)
  • vs. Jake Roberts (WWE The Big Event)
  • vs. Randy Savage (WrestleMania III)
  • vs. Ric Flair (WCW Chi-Town Rumble)
  • vs. Ric Flair (WCW WrestleWar 89)
  • vs. Lex Luger (WCW Great American Bash 89)
  • WarGames (WrestleWar 92)
