3/9 Wrestlezone Recap: New Champs Crowned in Chicago, TNA Returns to PPV Tonight, Network Update, Undertaker, Davey Richards Speaks on ROH Issues, More

Stars in Progress

the undertakerYes, I am blatantly ripping of Chris Cash's weekly column of the same name.

According to reports from the Wrestling Observer, the focus post-WrestleMania will be on John Cena and Daniel Bryan as the #1 and #2 guys in the WWE. This should come as a shock to few. CM Punk's absence has left a large hold at the top of the card.

Another report indicates that Cesaro will be another pet project of the WWE going forward. Expect this year's SummerSlam PPV to heavily feature all three of these guys in prominent positions. Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns are also in line for major pushes, as are the usual crop – Batista, Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar, etc.

Speaking of CM Punk, the most recent reports – however legitimate you make them out to be – indicate that nobody in WWE sees him returning to the company. Some seem to think he's done in pro wrestling altogether. After all, it makes very little financial sense for Punk to leave WWE, just to show up in Ring of Honor, especially if his body is as banged up as he claims it is.

The Undertaker is expected to be on Monday Night Raw this week. He may also make an appearance at a few Smackdown shows heading towards WrestleMania. I wasn't terribly excited about his program with Brock Lesnar until Paul Heyman's brilliant promo on Raw last week. If his career wasn't already so well defined, I'd have called it career-defining.

And finally, in TNA news, it looks like Brooke Tessmacher may be finished with the company. Not great news for the Knockout division, or my eyes every Thursday night. That division has been a revolving door with almost nobdoy sticking for years. With Taryn on pregnancy leave, they're already very limited. But that said, with the recent additions of Lei'd Tapa and the Alpha Female, the roster is about the same as it has been, even with the loss of Brooke.
