WrestleZone’s Pay-Per View Predictions: WWE Elimination Chamber

Cody Rhodes and Goldust vs. Ryback and Curtis Axel

Elimination Chamber

Killam on what should happen: Ryback and Axel don’t “need” a win to stay relevant, as some have told me, because they don’t need to be relevant. That’s not a slight against either – just an honest look at the card, and the approach to WrestleMania as it stands. That being said, even though Goldust has claimed a match against his half-brother won’t take place in April, I doubt the validity to his claims. It’s wholly possible that either A) he’s lying to protect the integrity of future plans, or B) he doesn’t actually know the WrestleMania plans yet. Neither do we, obviously, so it’s all total speculation, I just hesitate to believe a WWE Superstar saying anything “won’t happen” on Twitter. It’s pro wrestling – anything “can” happen. Rybaxel should pick up the win in a Kickoff match few are anticipating. The break-up won’t happen immediately, but that loss, on top of losing the title, on top of the Royal Rumble, on top of building frustration will trigger the split on Raw at some point in the next few weeks.

Killam on what will happen: Pretty much that. I guess they could “throw us off” by having the baby faces pick up a much needed win. But I think there’s more money in a Goldust vs. Cody Rhodes match at WrestleMania than any tag team scenario, and I believe WWE recognizes that as well.

Isenberg on what should happen: I agree with Mike here because when a tag team is not important, WWE will use them to get other guys over. Ryback and Axel are completely irrelavant without Paul Heyman and should not get a victory here. As for Goldust vs. Cody, that NEEDS to happen at WrestleMania XXX if they aren’t fighting for the WWE Tag Team Championships. They have been two of the most consistent and entertaining performers we have seen in the past six months. What should happen is Ryback hits Shell Shock onto Cody while Goldust unintentionally costs the match for his team. Let the frustrations continue.

Isenberg on what will happen: I would not be surprised if WWE goes with Cody and Goldust here and save the split for Raw. They will have six weeks to split and begin their feud. A brother split is always entertaining when done the right way. I would devalue both guys if this happened on a pre-show match.
