Daniel Bryan – One Step Up
It would be difficult for me to add much more about Daniel Bryan, his growth, or his brilliance than is already out there. Fans are buying him in a big way, and he truly looks, acts, and feels like a superstar right now.
I guess it's on purpose they are having Daniel Bryan mention his first WWE Championship reign very little. His current promos are driven by becoming the champion, but "again" or "for the second time" is hardly in the equation.
I'm aware of how short the reign was, but it's still a factual number. And I think it's a perception thing — fans might be more likely to view him as WWE Champion material knowing he's already been there before.
Then again, I'm sure the ultimate plan is centered around that one special moment when he does finally defy all the odds and make it back to the top of the mountain. I picture an HBK-type celebration in the middle of the ring, dropped to his knees, real tears, clinging desperately to that belt — the whole works.
That type of moment could easily be tainted if they put over the fact he's already been a WWE Champion too much.
Everything, and I mean "everything", is going exceptionally well for Daniel Bryan right now. It's all working the exact way WWE Creative was hoping it would — maybe even more so.
They simply have one thing left to do at this point: Follow through.
Drag it out as long as it's accepted by the fans, but this story only has one ending. And it's one that's easy to predict. WWE often changes it up for that very reason. For the love of all that's holy and pure, I beg for this to NOT be one of those times.
See this thing through, and by the end of it, Daniel Bryan will be a bona fide superstar for many years to come.
