Curtis Axel defeats The Miz
In a match and feud that drew little interest for me, Curtis Axel and The Miz did all they could to put on a very solid outing. There is nothing memorable here because WWE simply gave them an easy script to work with. As Paul Heyman got ejected, Miz took control in the ring. He looked really clean and crisp from move to move, faster and more aggressive. I really liked what I saw from Miz tonight. The facial expressions on Axel are something that cannot be taught. That is a key thing for his development into a main event star. Axel was able to flip a Figure Four and then finally reach the ropes. After multiple kickouts, Axel finally hit his new finisher (which is MUCH improved) and picked up the win. This showed that Axel can win a big match in clean fashion. It does not really hurt Miz because he is at a point where we all know what to expect from him. He could be a main event guy, but is not needed to be. Lastly, it was a good match but nothing spectacular.
