Mt. Killamanjaro: WWE Money in the Bank Review (7/15): Philadelphia, PA

CHRIS JERICHO VS. RYBACK
Winner: Ryback via roll-up
Rating: ***

Money in the Bank 2012 was the last time Ryback had won a match on pay-per-view. His opponents – more like victims – were Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks. The last time Ryback won a match on pay-per-view, it was against a guy who got future endeavored a few months later, and another who's only been seen on Hulu.

That changed this weekend. And of course, Ryback would win a match against Chris Jericho. Chris is the only person with a win/loss record almost as bad as this chicken shit heel. Almost.

I liked this match, because it was slow and steady. That may not usually be in Ryback's favor, but given Y2J 10-15 minutes to work and, like I said, he can pull a good match out of anyone. I still don't understand WWE's decision to make the 6'3" mountain of muscle a whiny little bitch. I'm sure they'd love to get as far away from the Goldberg comparisons as possible, but Goldberg never had the fans chanting another wrestler's name. There were no silly marks in the crowd chanting "Andre" or "Tatanka" when he was demolishing his victims week after week.

This match was a good place to start. I would have had Ryback put away Jericho with Shellshock, or maybe several massive clotheslines. They are doing to him what they did to Big Show on multiple occasions, by having him lose to Rey Mysterio or run away from fights like a coward. Making a 300-pound man scared of  potential opponents half his size, with a fraction of his strength, is ridiculous. Especially when just last year he was consuming two or three people at a time. Saying this win may have been "too little, too late" is a huge understatement.
