The Stories
MizTV featured Zeb Coulter, Jack Swagger, Alberto Del Rio, and Ricardo Rodriguez. Zeb took full control of the spotlight and delivered an excellent heel promo. The best part about him in the old school manager he is portraying. When watching this, you felt like his hate for Mexicans was real. You felt like you were seeing a guy who was speaking every word in truth, and got me to a point where i began to dislike his comments. They are hitting a very controversial line, and this is EXCELLENT. Swagger is bad on the microphone, but excellent in the ring. Del Rio is excellent in the ring, and knows what to say to get the crowd to cheer for him. I have been waiting for a feud to showcase all of the talent Del Rio has, and this could be it. Del Rio and Swagger will put on a great match, but I begin to wonder if the heel American gimmick could potentially backfire? In NY/NJ, that is America. Last year was in Miami, and this feud would have been perfect there. Nonetheless, I expect the road to Wrestlemania for these men to be successful, with much to talk about and more to build on from tonight. Grade: B+
Jack Swagger defeated The Miz in a pretty entertaining match. Even though we all knew the outcome, it was fun to watch. The King said it best, The Miz was trying to survive the entire match. He went quickly to the body of Swagger, sending him to the outside. You see the raw strength of Swagger, with chops and clotheslines to Miz. Miz was able to rally late in the match, picking up the pace with left hands and a running clothesline. It made Miz look more impressive than the past couple of months, but Swagger was able to intelligently target the leg of Miz. He finished him off with a chop to the leg, finishing with the Patriot Act. It was an aggressive looking Swagger, with his facial expressions and yelling much more believable than what we were used to from Swagger. Grade: B
-Sheamus mocked Wade Barrett tonight while talking about the Oscars. He shows a movie clip with Barrett, and then gets interrupted by him. Wade talks about the jealousy Sheamus has, and then Sheamus makes fun of Wade's nose. This fell a little flat for me, but I love the fact that you can pencil in these two guys at Wrestlemania. We have seen how great of a match they can put on. Five weeks is such a long time for these two guys, two who have had trouble in the past carrying a feud. Sheamus is a fighter, and so is Wade. Let them brawl and be physical next week, exchanging blows and having each man get the upper hand. I know there is so much time and the storyline needs to be set, but they just have such a hard time making Sheamus actually funny. Grade: B-
-The Shield comes out and talks about beating everyone. They ask who is next? Sheamus comes out and distracts them while Randy Orton hits an RKO on Seth Rollins. What are they doing with Sheamus? I wrote a few minutes ago about Sheamus vs. Barrett, but maybe they are keeping the door open in case they need Sheamus to be a strong enough face to battle with The Shield on the big stage. He already tagged with Ryback and John Cena, so how much stronger could a team be? I am really confused by this and think it is illogical.
Question of the week: Do you want Sheamus vs. Barrett or Sheamus teaming with Orton and another teammate for a 6 Man Tag Team Match at Wrestlemania?
