Wrestlezone’s Top 10: Moments of 2012

Number 2: A Year Long Champion

CM Punk

When you look at the WWE over the past decade, one thing you notice is that champions come and go. I love to look at 2012 as the year that will ultimately change how the WWE books their champions. Sheamus held his championship for much of 2012, and CM Punk held it all calender year. That is absolutely shocking, as well as a complete change in what was considered to be what the fans wanted. When you see years go by with 5-6 champions, which basically means a new champion every other PPV, you figure that Punk would not have been the guy they kept the strap on. Instead of giving it to a guy like Cena, they bucked the trend and gave it to a real wrestler. Punk thrived, and everyone should have embraced the reign of being a champion. It was a nice touch back into the good old days.
