Dolph Ziggler/John Cena – One Step Up
As I alluded to earlier, I don't love the story behind Cena and Ziggler getting started, but I'm very glad it's getting started.
For those of you thinking it's a given that John Cena will get the victory over Dolph, I wouldn't be so sure. I'm expecting Ziggler to come out on the other end of this better than he was going into it. And that includes a win at Survivor Series.
Otherwise, I'll be at the front of the line ready to bitch and moan.
WWE surely understands that Dolph Ziggler has more to gain right now. Cena gets to go into WrestleMania season, which is just around the corner, building toward another high-profiled match against Rock, more than likely. And if not him, someone.
Dolph, on the other hand, is your last MITB holder, the best all-around, in-ring performer you have in the company, and by all accounts, one of the future stars of the business. A solid program/win over your Number One could be a great jumpstart.
Fans have reported that Ziggler's recent matches with Cena during house shows have been stellar, as if there was ever any doubt on that!
What I'm most interested in seeing is how they accomodate Orton's desire for a heel turn if he's going to be the primary counterpart for Ziggler next year. If Orton gets his wish, then it's fair to assume Dolph could also make a change a soon. We all know how good Orton can be as a heel. I also have high expectations for Dolph Ziggler as an eventual babyface.
Then again, I just have high expectations for Dolph Ziggler, period.
