#2. TNA No Surrender
I had hoped to do a post-show on last night's pay per view event, Mike Killam, but I was traveling all day and didn't get to watch TNA No Surrender until this morning.
Overall, I really enjoyed the effort by all involved. If there are critiques or complaints from my view, it would be the outcome of the Bully Ray/Jeff Hardy match and my continued concern with Austin Aries' positioning as Champion.
I'm sure the result of the Bully Ray/Hardy match was determined quickly and left an out for both sides in case Bully Ray's contract extension didn't go well. But that's part of the problem — it shouldn't have gotten that far. TNA should have locked Bully Ray in as soon as possible, given the fact he's the number one heel of their company.
And as far as Austin Aries is concerned, this angle with the Aces & Eights is simply putting him into uncomfortable positions. It's no longer about wrestling and being the best, much like Punk's role in WWE. Rather, it's about him being the supposed hero and savior, ridding the company of the evil that is the Aces & Eights.
I just don't see Austin Aries as "that" guy yet.
Otherwise, No Surrender was a great example of the progress TNA has made. Solid stories throughout the night, great matches as usual, and they still have the Aces & Eights program as their umbrella piece to keep you coming back.
Bound For Glory is next, and I'm looking forward to it.
