Rob Van Dam vs. Magnus
For what it was, RVD and Magnus put on a decent filler match. I really expected Magnus to get the win here, as his loss ultimately means the bragging he did on Impact means nothing. I was more surprised, yet again, to see no development in the Samoa Joe angle I have to assume they’re working towards for Bound for Glory. But I’m also not a fan of letting an angle ruin a good match, and Van Dam has more than enough experience to put away Magnus, eight days a week.
It’ll be interesting to see where the paths of either man go this week on Impact. Van Dam could be easily inserted into the fight against Aces & Eights; he’s made a career out of transitioning into angles as a filler opponent the crowd can get behind.

TNA World Tag Team Championship (of the World)
Kazarian & Christopher Daniels (#WTTCOTW) vs. Kurt Angle & AJ Styles
Magic. It’s rare in a professional wrestling match these days, but every once in awhile you find the perfect recipe for pure magic inside the ropes. We already saw what both of these teams are capable of doing at Slammiversary, but they may have actually topped that “match of the year”candidate last night at No Surrender. I won’t make a final verdict on that though; you should all debate that in chat section below.
Probably the most surprising thing is how far Kazarian has come with the help of Christopher Daniels. The two work so perfectly together, both as promo partners and in the ring as tag champions. After working together in the business for so long, their chemistry is undeniable. Add to that AJ Styles, who has worked with both men for likely over a decade, and Kurt Angle, arguably the best in-ring technician the sport has ever seen. An impressive twenty-minute contest, with all four guys getting an equally impressive amount of the proverbial pie.
Whether or not you spend the time to watch all of No Surrender is your business, but if you don’t at least check out this match – if I may be so bold – you probably don’t give a damn about professional wrestling.
