THE FACTS
Let's get a few things I "know" are accurate out of the way:
1) The "internet wrestling community" feeds off of behind-the-scenes "dirt" that sites like ours report on a daily basis. It's what drives traffic to our sites and in turn, is what makes us money and pays our bills.
2) WWE and TNA, as companies on the whole, absolutely follow the news being reported on the dirt sheets. Likely not all of them, but the more reputable ones and the ones with the most traffic. Yes, WZ falls into those categories, regardless of what some of you might say about our credibility.
3) Many workers/wrestlers in the business read the dirt sheets, some quite frequently. Again, not all wrestlers do, but an overwhelming percentage of them have their favorite sites they visit AND it's often how they, themselves, keep up with the goings-on in the business.
4) The majority of the news reported on dirt sheets come from a very small, select number of sources. There might be hundreds of wrestling websites online, but only a handful of them "break" actual news stories, most of the time. The rest are called "copy/paste" sites and simply aggregate their news from those primary sources. WZ is one of the few trying to do both.
Those may seem basic and could be stuff you already know, but it's all relative and they are each very important details as I continue.
Those four facts prove the importance of the dirt sheets. We're the central hub where ALL sections of the business come to follow along. It's also the reason it's extremely important we get it right more than we get it wrong, especially those attempting to "break" stories. Clearly, without those sites and individuals, there is no news in the first place.
That's easier said than done in pro wrestling. It's so much different than every other form of sports AND entertainment. It's harder even, in my opinion, and here's why:
