The Cashbox: Previewing No Way Out, Predicting Winners

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

Dolph ZigglerNo, I’m not going to take this time to gloat or jump and down or go crazy because Dolph Ziggler is in a main event match for the title. Actually, I have mixed feelings about the situation.

On one hand, I’m glad Dolph is getting the opportunity, regardless of how it came about. On the other hand, I’m afraid it could be too soon. The fact he’s in this match in the first place proves WWE needs stars desperately and often times, being put in a star’s role before you’re ready can set you back even further.

I felt Money In The Bank was the best opportunity for Dolph. It still might be.

In no way do I see Dolph winning this match. I’m sure he’ll go out there and put on a wrestling clinic though, selling and flopping around for Sheamus. Let’s hope Sheamus returns the favor at least a little bit.

CC’s Pick: Sheamus

INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

Cody RhodesThis is the reason I didn’t think Cody should have lost the belt to Christian in the first place. It now seems unrealistic to think Cody will win it back in such a short amount of time. I’m aware he did it with Big Show, but I see that as a different situation altogether. Big Show was there solely to put over Cody Rhodes and was never going to stick around the IC title picture for long.

WWE doesn’t generally hot-potato the titles, so in my mind, it’s an easy pick.

However, if Rhodes would have kept the title during this program, then every match on every pay per view would have meant that much more. Plus, Rhodes could have at least gotten a couple wins over Christian before dropping the belt. Unless they plan on switching the title back, I don’t see that happening now.

CC’s Pick: Christian

JOHN CENA vs BIG SHOW

Big ShowThis thing either got a whole lot more interesting or a whole lot more predictable with the recent spoiler coming out of Smackdown. I really don’t think it was a necessary addition, but we’ll see how it plays out.

I’m going to say though that the SD spoiler doesn’t change my pick.

I’m afraid Johnny Ace might be hanging up his GM boots quicker than I imagined. I’m still a huge fan and felt he was growing into the character quite well, but I’m afraid the ratings didn’t reflect it. I doubt the low ratings are being held against Johnny specifically, but Vince may feel he needs something (or someone) different in that role to spark a little more interest than Johnny apparently has.

Vince could decide he’s the best man for the job and just do it himself even.

Either way, I’m going to go with the safe bet here and say John Cena beats the Big Show this Sunday. I don’t see the upside to Big Show winning, not at this point. I’m not sure fans are capable of taking him serious as a main event level guy.

All that said, I wouldn’t be surprised if Vince completely swerved us in this match. We’ve been reporting that Vince wants some sort of big angle sometime soon, so I guess it’s possible he could use this match and these stipulations to kickstart that.

CC’s Pick: John Cena
