What’s Bothering Me: Angle Lies, Bryan’s Ceiling, Bischoff

#2. Really, Kurt?

I'm a HUGE Kurt Angle fan — always have been — but his recent comments regarding his upcoming cage match with Jeff Hardy at TNA Lockdown was comical.

Angle said, "I pray to God I don't further injure my injuries anymore. But I am brave enough, and maybe I'm stupid, but I want the fans to say, 'That was the best match I saw all year.' That's hard to say when you have Triple H and Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell match. But Jeff Hardy and I are capable of having just as good of a match as Undertaker and Triple H."

I understand that he's trying to sell pay per views. I'm also aware that Kurt Angle truly believes he is one of the greats of all time. I agree that he is. But since Kurt "went there", let me go there and give the reasons I feel the upcoming Angle/Hardy match has NO chance of ever being "as good" as Taker/HHH from 'Mania.

1) People have to see it to compare! I'm not trying to take a shot at TNA's buyrate – I honestly don't know know what they are these days – but I'm 100% positive they are still nowhere close to WWE's numbers. There's no ranking-by-ratio when determining the greatest in anything. Otherwise, ROH fans would have a legitimate gripe that the best wrestlers and the best matches come from there. The greatest matches happen on the greatest stages, period. The tens of thousands of people live in attendance and the hundreds of thousands of people (millions in this case) watching from home is part of what makes it great in the first place. I'm sorry, Kurt, but in my opinion, there is no comparison. If a tree falls in a forest…

2) You don't have the streak! Without it, Taker vs HHH was just another great match. With it, it's a major part of history.

3) The history. 4) The emotion. 5) HBK.

Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy in a cage can be great. It won't come close to reaching Taker/HHH from WrestleMania 28.

Very few have and very few ever will.
