What’s Bothering Me: Sid No-Shows, Silly Records, Women

#1. Meaningless Title Records

Austin Aries is set to become the longest reigning X-Division Champion in history. Cody Rhodes is passing people left and right on his way up the ladder of longest IC title holders in history. Both men deserve it. But who honestly gives a sh*t?

I wish I did.

When you think "Cody Rhodes" right now, the IC title is probably the last thing that pops into your head. I couldn't tell you the date, the event, or the opponent of his last title match. Aries defends his title plenty, but the X-Division is a mere shell of what it used to be and he's had very few credible challengers.

Say what you want about the meaning behind titles in pro wrestling. Tell me again how "they're just props". I'll again tell you you're wrong. Or, I'll say that you're right, right now, and that's the problem. It shouldn't be that way. They can mean a lot more, for the fans and for those that wear them.

I'm happy for Aries, and this record will be another notch under his belt, but it won't mean much in the grand scheme of things. He's a big, very talented fish in a small, undeserving pond. It's unfortunate.

I like TNA, too. They're doing some good things, but the redevelopment of the X-Division isn't one of them.
