#2. Wade Barrett To Miss ‘Mania
The part that bothers me is the new report that “Money in the Bank” was scrapped for WrestleMania 28 because Barrett, the planned winner of the match, will now be sidelined. That’s crazy and ill-advised for two reasons, in my opinion.
One, I don’t see why Barrett needed that win in the first place. Yes, MITB winners are shoo-ins for the title, but in a cheap way. Even though Barrett is a heel, that’s the last thing he needed attached to his first major title win.
Two, I can think of a dozen other superstars that could actually benefit from a MITB contract. Plans change in WWE all the time — typically because Vince simply changes his mind — so why is this situation any different? Barrett’s out, so determine a replacement and go with it. MITB belongs at WrestleMania anyway, in my opinion.
In hindsight, once Barrett returns, we’ll probably see this injury as a positive thing for Barrett. I’m a fan. I’m ready to see him at the top. But the facts that are surfacing as a result of his injury, I find bothersome.
