What’s Bothering Me? (In Professional Wrestling)

I'm nearly out of emails from our loyal WrestleZone readers telling me what's bothering you in professional wrestling.  Please submit them to wzchriscash@yahoo.com for potential inclusion in a future edition of this column.  This week's addition was submitted by WZ reader Dale:

"I understand in every sport, and especially in Sports Entertainment, change is a must. However, there are a lot of things that are bothering me lately regarding the quality of professional wrestling.  For instance, the WWE or the "World" titles have no value like they did in the past.

When I was growing up, underdogs like Bret "The Hitman" Hart made the then WWF title special in that only the very best can be crowned Champion as it doesn't just happen to everybody. In today's wrestling, mid-carders like Christian, CM Punk, The Miz, Alberto Del Rio, and even Jack Swagger are now recognized as former champions. There are no standards today.

These days, it's like the belt has to change hands month after month to interest viewers and make half the roster former WWE or "World" champs. I don't get it and it minimizes the value of what the title signifies. It seems WWE is looking to become purely "entertainment" in the squared circle and because of that, I wouldn't be surprised if they make Zack Ryder World Champion one day.

I am sure I am not alone on this stance.

I  used to consider myself a huge wrestling fan who would watch RAW from the time it started every Monday night religiously. But the program just isn't the same.  Now, it's all about "storyline".  "Wrestling" is what they use to call it.
