Robert Roode
One Contender's Step Up
Everything TNA is doing right now with Robert Roode (I wish they'd quit calling him Bobby) is perfect, in my opinion. From the video package that aired this week on Impact to the weekly matches against his friends and Fortune members, it's all working. TNA had a very short time to turn Roode into a credible contender for Angle's World Heavyweight Championship at BFG and they've certainly given a 110% effort.
Sting's opening promo on Thursday even involved the number one contender and his current story with Hogan has "nothing" to do with what Roode is doing. It wasn't necessary, but it definitely helps. EVERYTHING helps right now and TNA is doing absolutely everything to get Roode prepared for the main event of the company's biggest pay per view of the year. It's paying off.
Roode's match with A.J. Styles was very good too this week. It gives a little taste of what you can expect when he wrestles Kurt Angle in two weeks. Styles loses and tells his friend that he's ready for Angle and that he "will" be the next World Heavyweight Champion. I couldn't agree more.
I feel like Robert Roode is already ready and TNA still has two more Thursday nights left.
