Bobby Roode – Number One Contender
One Potential Step Up

Impact Wrestling this week was a good start in building Bobby Roode as a credible contender to Kurt Angle's World Heavyweight Championship.  Having the members of Fortune sing his praises only to be forced by Angle to work matches against him is for the best.

He needs to get separated from the group and more specifically, his tag team partner, as soon as possible.  TNA is up against the clock heading into their biggest pay per view of the year and Bobby Roode is simply one-half of arguably the best tag team in wrestling right now.  That's not easy to overcome.  Just ask Bully Ray.  Ask Edge.  Ask Christian.  Hell, ask Devon.

TNA's version of Triple H (I say that mostly due to the physical attributes) has a steep, uphill battle ahead of him.  Winning the Bound for Glory Series was the first step, but due to the amount of participants in the tournament and the other stories surrounding it (ex: Samoa Joe's recent actions), the focus couldn't always be on Roode.

Guilty or not, Angle's recent headlines might force TNA to go with Roode at BFG as a result, but I'm sure they were already seriously considering it anyway.  This is there equivalent of WWE's "Money in the Bank" gimmick.  I imagine they want this to be an annual opportunity to jumpstart the career of their "next big thing".  They want the ability to put over how past winners have went on to win the Championship.

Right now, Bobby Roode's future has potential.  But it always has.  Now, TNA is asking fans to accept Roode as a true, World Champion contender.  I don't…yet.  I'm not sure we will before October 16th, but there's always a chance.  Luckily, Roode has the help of one of the best in the world in Kurt Angle.  He won the Olympics with a broken freakin' neck!  I'm sure he can put over someone as talented as Bobby Roode.
