Velvet Sky vs. Angelina Love Review:
Velvet makes her entrance, but Angelina comes out and throws her off the apron. Velvet counters on Love with a bulldog. Angelina heads to the outside to gather herself. Angelina drops an elbow on Velvet’s back, throws her into the corner and goes on the offensive. Velvet reverses a headlock with a jawbreaker. Winter interferes by choking Velvet on the ropes while the referee is distracted. The knockouts go back and forth, reversing moves. Velvet hits a body slam and goes to pick Angelina back up, but she is reversed and Winter tries to hit her with the belt. Winter actually hits Angelina with the title, as Velvet hits the Beau-D-T for the win.
Reaction:
This match had a few missed spots, and seemed out of place in the card for tonight. I would this rather be before the main event, as it stopped the pace of hyping their big main events. The Knockouts division is not focused around Love or Sky because they are not great in ring performers, and without Winter or Mickie, you could tell. The match was sloppy, uninteresting, and showed a weakness in the offensive moves from Sky. This segment gets a C-.
Backstage Segment Review:
Jeff Hardy walks into AJ Styles’ locker room and AJ says it is neither the time nor place for Jeff. AJ talks about always being there for Jeff from the very beginning, but he is upset because Jeff almost ruined everything at Victory Road. He said Jeff almost ruined what he and everyone fought for, and it almost affected his family as well. AJ says he avoids drugs and alcohol, and cannot see a reason for them to be around one another. Hardy looks upset.
Reaction:
We get more realism between Hardy and someone whom he was close to. You see him being vulnerable, not charismatic like he was called before. I like seeing him have to apologize to people, because it does give off a realistic effect on what was a disgusting act in the ring.
Backstage Segment Review:
Flair and Hogan talk about Flair beating Sting. Hogan says he has a backup plan just in case. Sting sneaks behind them and asks what it is. Sting says he has a plan for them so he can get to Hogan. Flair and Hogan then say they do not need a backup plan to beat him.
Samoa Joe vs. Matt Morgan in a Submission Match Review:
Joe starts on the offensive on Matt Morgan before the bell rings. Morgan sends Joe into the corner and hits punches and chops onto him. He connects with a kick in the head. Joe gains the offensive advantage with a jawbreaker, and follows with kicks to take down Morgan. Joe locks a choke hold until Morgan reaches for the ropes. Morgan gets back on the offensive, as he hits a kick and a side slam onto Joe. He hits a power slam, and applies a submission hold. Joe gets out of it cheaply, and then slams Morgan to the mat. He locks in a figure four. Morgan struggles to hang on, but has to tap out.
Reaction:
I did not get a submission match between two heavyweights, as it seemed like just a random stipulation to try and spice things up. The match was alright, had a few nice moves, but it dragged along and did not have great drama inside the ropes. I like Morgan more than Joe, because Joe can hit a few athletic moves for a big guy, but I do not buy him being able to make Morgan submit. It is unrealistic, and I will continue to bash Joe because he does not do what it takes off camera to make himself better. This segment gets a C.
