Ken Anderson Can Talk Again!
One Unforced Step Up
Kudos to TNA for taking Impact Wrestling back on the road. I understand that they can't afford to do it all the time, but it makes for a special show when they do. The Huntsville crowd was hot and added a lot to the special broadcast.
Mr. Anderson has always been a favorite of mine since his start of the "Mr. Kennedy" gimmick in WWE. He had that "it" factor everyone talks about so much and I honestly thought he would have been a staple in the WWE for years to come. Some injuries plagued him when it mattered most. It seemed everytime he was in line for a major push, he'd be derailed again and never could quite recover.
Toward the end of his WWE run, something weird happened. Anderson's promos stopped working for me. They seemed forced and a bit too cliche. Many writers have said Anderson was trying too hard to be the next Rock or Steve Austin and while I don't necessarily think that was the problem, there was definitely something different going on everytime he was on the mic.
When Anderson moved to TNA, it was more of the same. Thankfully, TNA has given him more freedom to act and say as he feels and I think he's slowly morphing back into the Ken Anderson of old. His promo that kicked off Thursday's Impact was great. The fact that they were in Huntsville and he was given the opening slot didn't hurt either, but Ken deserves the credit for delivering as well as he did.
Ken Anderson has every tool to be the next "anybody" he wants. I'm sure he'd say that being the first Mr. Anderson is his goal, but either way you look at it, he takes a step up this week simply because his promo was a reminder of how good he can be when he doesn't try to force it.
