Title This: WWE Friday Night Smackdown Reaction 8-26-2011

Opening Segment Review:

Bret Hart tells us that tonight he is the guest GM. He says that the live Smackdown was his idea for next week. He books Mark Henry vs. Randy Orton for next week. Christian comes out and complains about his loss at SummerSlam. He wants his rematch on Tuesday. Hart bashed Christian, calling him an embarrassment to WWE and to Canada. Christian then presented a court order and says he gets his rematch before anyone else. Hart announces Orton vs. Christian next week in a steel cage match. Mark Henry comes out and talks about being disrespected. He tries to intimidate Bret, but Sheamus comes out and clears Henry from the ring.

Reaction:

I like the beginning of Smackdown because it brings out the competitors who both want to face Orton. Much like Raw, SD begins with a back and forth spat between the so called number one contenders. Henry is good on the microphone, but I feel sometimes he loses his train of thought. He seems mono tone, but since he is large and intimidating, it somehow works for him. Christian and Hart had a good back and forth, in front of their fellow Canadians. Christian deserves credit, because he carried the opening segment with his complaining. He is not the typical heel, one who is cocky and arrogant, but more of a whiner who looks weak, but is so solid inside the ring. This segment gets a B.

Christian vs. Daniel Bryan Review:

Both men gain some good offense in the beginning of this match. Christian hits a few of his moves, as Bryan focuses on his grounded submissions. Bryan locks an armbar in, and Christian uses the ropes and steps on his back. Christian slaps Bryan, hits a flying elbow on Bryan and attempts a spear. Bryan hits him with a kick to the face, but misses a flying splash. Bryan gets a two count. Bryan puts Christian to the top rope, and misses a hurricanranna off the rope. He follows up with a DDT from the turnbuckle for a two count. Christian sets up the Killswitch, but the LaBell Lock gets Christian to struggle to the ropes to break it up. Christian moves out of the way from a flying Bryan, hits the Killswitch and picks up the victory.

Reaction:

A great match between these two. What else do you expect from these superstars? Christian is the master of reversing moves, while Bryan has fantastic timing and speed in the ring, without making errors. This match flowed with ease, but I do wish that it was the main event. They could have fought for a good twenty minutes, and really worked in the ring. Nonetheless, this segment gets an A, thanks to giving us pure wrestling, great reversals, offensive timing, and a good ending.

In Ring Segment:

Wade Barrett refuses to face a local wrestler. He said he is responsible for attacks on John Cena and others. He goes on to talk about how he has shaken up the WWE, and this is an embarrassment to fight this guy.

Reaction:

Shockingly enough, I liked what he did here. He should be upset, because he put on a five star match with Bryan at SummerSlam, but seems to not have a legit feud. It shows that maybe Barrett's character may take a slight change soon, which is needed. Tweak how Barrett is as a character because we know what he does in the ring. This segment gets a C.
