Eddie Fatu & The Nation Of Violence – where does this brilliant talent go from here?

Obviously the one thing that Umaga has working against him in TNA is Samoa Joe. The two are very similar although when Umaga first debuted I argued against the idea that he was WWE’s answer to Samoa Joe. But you present a great idea here. If Umaga does indeed head to TNA then the Nation of Violence and an allegiance with Joe would be a great idea. Imagine the great wrestling that could come out of Joe and Umaga working as a tag team. Most people are jumping straight to the idea of Joe vs Umaga in TNA, but the lasting power Umaga could have with the company is if he initially debuted working with Joe, and then later in his tenure with the company he could feud with him.

Who is the one person that TNA can not afford to lose?

That’s a great question and a tough one to answer considering TNA does not put stock into the wrestlers that they cannot afford to lose. I would say TNA can’t afford to lose AJ Styles, but then again TNA seems to place more importance on ex-WWE and ex-WCW wrestlers than homegrown talent like Styles and Joe. Having said that, however, the real pain of losing a guy like Styles would be felt in the locker room, and I think morale would take a huge hit because people would begin to lose faith in TNA utilizing anyone who hasn’t made a name for himself in another promotion. AJ Styles is TNA through-in-through, and if he were to ever jump ship to WWE, then those around him who grew up with TNA might begin to wonder if the company appreciates their presence or not. That said, Kurt Angle might be another guy that TNA can’t afford to lose. I would say Sting, but at this point I don’t ever see him signing with WWE and think he’ll most likely retire at the end of this year as has been reported. Angle, on the other hand, was a guy that was supposed to “change the face of pro wrestling” when he entered TNA, and if he returns to WWE like Christian did, then I think top WWE stars would seriously think twice about jumping ship to TNA.

(What are the) best and worst finishers?

I’m going to assume you mean the best and worst finishers currently being used in wrestling as opposed to best and worst of all time. So here are my top 3 of each:

Best

1. The Canadian Destroyer by Petey Williams

2. Evan Bourne’s Shooting Star Press

3. The Undertaker’s Hell’s Gate/ The Devil’s Triangle

Worst

1. The Reality Check by The Miz

2. Chris Jericho’s Codebreaker, and here’s why: the move is way too inconsistent. Jericho rarely hits the move to great effect. Generally his opponent’s face lands between Jericho’s knees as opposed to on the knees. The same could similarly be said about Punk’s GTS, but Punk hits it cleaner more often than Jericho does. Granted Jericho uses different variations of The Codebreaker, but more often than not it looks weak. He has many different finishers that are far better looking.

3. The Stroke by Jeff Jarrett

Note: I purposely left out The Khali Chop and the 619 as they are technically not finishers, but preludes to finishers, so they don’t count.

Which September PPV format do you prefer? Unforgiven’s scramble matches or Breaking Point’s all submission matches?

In fairness I have to say that since we haven’t seen the Breaking Point format actually at work, I can’t cast a definite opinion, but I will say that I was not a huge fan of the scramble idea. It hasn’t worked too well in the past, and I am really looking forward to an all submission style PPV. I am a huge fan of submission wrestling, and I think it’s something that is becoming a lost art in WWE, and to see it resurrected could mean a PPV full of more ground controlled, submission style mat wrestling which would be an amazing thing to watch for one night on an entire PPV card. Will WWE screw it up? Most likely to a certain degree yes, but since we haven’t seen it yet, I say let them give it a go.
