Christian vs. William Regal for the ECW Championship
A controversial win by Christian will keep the rivalry going as there are no other serious contenders to the ECW Title. To have a rapid set of exchanges would discredit the title. If Christian were to lose it, he’d have to change brands, neither of which has a heel as Mid-Card Champion for him to challenge, and there wouldn’t be enough faces left in ECW to challenge Regal were he to win the championship.
The finish comes when Regal gets aggrevated with how the match is going. He motions for Kozlov to come into the ring and dispose of Christian, and Kozlov happily obliges. The referee runs to stop him, and as he is holding Kozlov up at the ropes, Jackson slides in and manages to catch a now standing Christian by the throat. He picks up the ECW champion but Christian catches Jackson with a poke to the eyes. With Kozlov unable to see the melee going on, he starts to jump off the apron, but before the referee can turn around, Christian catches Regal with a thumb to the eye. As Regal is dazed, Christian hits the Killswitch and retains.

Before Tony Chimel can make the announcement, Kozlov and Jackson are in the ring beating down the Champion. Tommy Dreamer runs in to make the save with a baseball bat and clears the ring. He helps up Christian and holds the champion’s hand high.
