Another aspect of Raw that I liked last night was the title picture between Sheamus and John Cena. WWE finally allowed Sheamus to breathe a little more on Raw, and seeing him a bit more will really help the crowd buy into him as a viable Champion. I understand that WWE is booking him to be the cowardly heel, but if he doesn’t flex his muscles every once in awhile, the audience will do nothing but sit back and yawn whenever he’s on TV.
I’m used to the fact, by now, that WWE is always going to protect John Cena as their prized baby face, but what they fail to understand at times is that you can get other stars over while protecting your top face. If your goal is to eventually create new stars, which of course WWE needs to do and has done moderately well this year, then it’s very important that these stars still appear larger than life when up against the top face. Because if they don’t the fans won’t buy into them as viable contenders.
Lastly, I thought Timbaland did a surprisingly good job last night hosting Raw. He seemed comfortable on the mic, he appeared like he knew what he was talking about, and whatever he was there to promote was addressed quickly and worked into the story line of the segment as opposed to being a tangential, shameless plug. Have there been better hosts? Of course, but my expectations of Timbaland were pretty low heading into the broadcast, and I was pleasantly surprised.
By the way, how awesome is Jericho? His stuff was hilarious last night.
