Tuesday 5th January:
Hurrah! The snow is so bad that I cannot get into work today!
I have managed to now watch the remainder of RAW and also watch TNA iMPACT. Overall I must say that it was a nice change to see 2 rival promotions go at it, and all though it was never going to be on the same par as back in ’98 it was a nice change from the recent bore-fests that have taken over Monday nights.
RAW’s outing was clearly going to be a hit no matter what. Seeing Bret Hart walk out onto the stage was enough to create a memory but I have to commend them for their great efforts to “bury the hatchet” with Montreal.
With the way Bret Hart was paraded off by the Roster on Monday night I was concerned that this might have been a one night only deal with Bret, but I’m praying that they follow up with this Bret v Vince saga. I’m not saying that I want to see a match but with an electronic ticket for Wrestlemania 26 sitting in my inbox I must say that I’m licking my lips for the chance to see the Hitman in person live in Phoenix. if he is involved in the show.
TNA didn’t do a bad show either but I have to admit that I was groaning in agony when I saw a DQ in a steel asylum match right from the beginning. My annoyance was then quickly converted into large amounts of laughter as Homicide was unable to climb out of the cage when he was clearly meant too.
The segments with Hogan was a refreshing change on TNA screens but not on Wrestling fans eyeballs. Most fans have seen this before and we know that it could become old quickly. Let’s hope Eric and Hulk don’t make the same mistakes again.
TNA managed to bring in lots of wrestlers last night but I don’t have a particular desire to see The Nasty Boys take on Team 3D anytime soon.
However, the main event was a great solid match but I feel the need to criticise Mike Teney… Now I’m not one of his biggest fans but when Kurt Angle hits the Angle Slam I’m suppose to believe that he will win the match with that move because its his finishing manoeuvre. Mike didn’t even mention the fact that Kurt hit his finisher at one stage and when AJ kicked out of it, he just acted like it was a regular 2 count at the start of a match. Even Taz seemed shocked at his reaction. Maybe the “Professor” was reading his script at that time?
Overall though I still believe that the winner of the evening was WWE, because if someone asked me what show I need to see next, then I would have to answer RAW. I want to see if Bret is on it, I want to see what kind of fallout is brought on from it and I want to see if this serious version of HBK that seemingly is starting to look down at HHH continues.
I’ll check out TNA as well but I won’t rushing to the TV set the make sure it’s watched as soon as possible. I hope you haven’t minded this article being just a mind burst of feelings and emotions that has been flowing through my head in the last few days but I felt the need to write and share my thoughts and opinions with you all.
