If audiences in the 1970’s saw Abdullah the Butcher, for example, every week of the year, Abby would not be as strong a draw as he was because everyone had seen him. But territories were plentiful so Butcher had plenty of places to work and the territory had lots of choices of who to bring in next. Now, not all talent rotated. There were a core group of guys that a promoter could count on… and it’s important to find those building blocks. That’s where vision is important.
I have been blessed with that ability and the opportunity to use it now for Ring of Honor. I think it’s pretty simple… find wrestlers who can wrestle for a wrestling show. And we’ve found some good ones but the search continues.
Ring of Honor is putting considerable resources into talent development and is hosting their second Tryout Camp on Sunday October 3rd. As a direct result of the first camp in March with 40 attendees, of Honor events and more are waiting their turn.
Anyone who is looking to further their wrestling career owes it to themselves to attend this camp. Just follow this link to register for the ROH Tryout Camp.
This Saturday, Ring of Honor presents Glory By Honor IX featuring Tyler Black vs Roderick Strong for the ROH World Championship with Terry Funk as the special enforcer outside the ring. The Kings of Wrestling defend the ROH World Tag Team titles against Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin and Kevin Steen and El Generico look to finally settle their epic rivalry in a Double Chain Match. Steen’s tag team partner is Steve Corino while Generico partners, of course with Colt Cabana.
Tickets are sold out for the event at the Manhattan Center but you can watch it live at Go Fight Live.tv. Just click here for ordering details.
