Impact Wrestling Bound For Glory Preview: Who Will Walk Out World Champion, Who Will Steal The Show

Tessa Blanchard (c) vs. Taya Valkyrie (Knockouts Championship)

I understand that a lot of the story of this one is Johnny Impact and his wife, Taya, potentially leaving Bound for Glory as World Champion and Knockouts Champion, but I don’t see it happening. Tessa Blanchard is the absolute blueprint for what a female in the wrestling industry should be. She took a chance signing a long-term contract with impact and I think it worked out well for her because she is enabling herself to establish a legacy for herself, and further a legacy that was rooted in female wrestling excellence long before most other promotions on this side of the country. The Knockouts division will always be able to lay claim to the fact that they were doing women’s wrestling matches long before it was all about an evolution and I would argue that Tessa Blanchard is just that, the perfect example of the evolution in the women’s wrestling industry and in the Knockouts division. Tessa keeps the title here and will continue to keep it going forward.

Concrete Jungle Death Match: LAX vs. The OGz

If any match steals the show, it will be this one. They absolutely tore the house down at Slammiversary and with this show taking place in Queens New York and that being a home for quite a few men in this match I know that they’re going to go all out and stain the Melrose Ballroom red. I’m looking forward to what they do here but I’m also looking forward to this finishing. I’m excited to see some new blood get into the tag team title picture and I think LAX keeps it here and we going to 2019 looking for fresh matchups for the tag team titles. However, that’s not before they give you one of the most violent pay-per-view matches presented in quite some time. I’m very excited to see what happens I don’t know if Konnan can still go, but I’m sure that brawler mentality never leaves. This one should be damn good.

oVe Rules: oVe vs. Lucha Bros and X-Division Champion Brian Cage

Lots of surprises in the fast for me. First of all, I think Sami Callihan should be in the World Championship picture as well. I’m surprised that Pentagon doesn’t have a bigger role on the card, especially after being in a match with Kenny Omega at All In. Perhaps most of all, I’m surprised that they’re not doing anything with the X division title on the show. At one point, that was this company’s signature division and I’m surprised that they’re not playing up that history. All six men are incredibly driven and incredibly talented and this match should be completely separate from the one mentioned above even though both are hardcore six-man tag based matches. I think oVe has to win here. I think Sami Callihan has to be the star of Impact Wrestling going forward, he has consistently produced the best segments of each television show offering and I see that being rewarded very soon.

Austin Aries (c) vs Johnny Impact (Impact World Championship)

This is it. This is the main event of Impact Wrestling’s biggest show of the year. Austin Aries has tried so hard in his time since leaving WWE to make not only his own brand but every company he’s a part of feel authentic and exciting. Johnny Impact is the pretty boy with a lot of outside projects looking to win the World Championship in his second Bound For Glory main event. Honestly, I think Johnny wins. He’s on Survivor, he’s got movies on Netflix, he can take this belt around and promote impact in a lot of different areas. Granted, Johnny has said in an interview with us, that you can see embedded at the top of this page, that he feels like he has earned every opportunity he has gotten so maybe Johnny isn’t concerned with parading the belt around outside of Impact Wrestling, but I think that it is definitely an added bonus to a potential Johnny Impact win. I don’t think Johnny will hold the belt for long, but I do think he wins it here and the fans get sent home happy.

So there you have it, those are my predictions for this year’s Bound for Glory event. I think it will complete the job that Slammiversary started of ushering in a true new beginning for Impact Wrestling and it’s one that I’m excited to take part in, even just through coverage.
