Chris Jericho was one of the first major names who signed with AEW in 2019. The veteran has feuded with almost every name that’s been associated with the company since its inception.
Jericho’s status as an industry veteran has allowed him to pick his feuds in Tony Khan’s promotion. Le Champion has been involved in solo programs. He’s led factions to war against each other. Here are his five best feuds in AEW.
Cody Rhodes
Cody Rhodes was the first challenger who stepped up to Chris Jericho after he won his first and only AEW World Championship win at All Out 2019. The promo battles between the two superstars were entertaining. Rhodes was AEW’s top babyface at the time and it only seemed fitting of him to challenge the top heel in Jericho.
The feud saw Jericho’s then-Inner Circle stable ridicule Cody Rhodes over his video package. Former WWE star Virgil also made a brief appearance during the feud. The feud culminated in a win for the Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla. It also meant that Rhodes could never challenge for the world title again.
Eddie Kingston
Eddie Kingston is probably the realest performer in AEW. Every promo he cuts is filled with raw emotion. It is safe to say that few can feel as authentic on the mic as Kingston every time he puts his lips to the piece of equipment. The Mad King brought the same fire and passion to his feud with Chris Jericho.
The feud was all about respect when it first began. Their first singles meeting at AEW Revolution 2022 was probably the best match in the entire saga. Unfortunately, the feud couldn’t retain its momentum and fell flat by the time it reached its conclusion at AEW Dynamite: Fyter Fest.
Jon Moxley
Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho were sworn enemies in WWE. Mox brought this bad blood to AEW when he confronted and attacked the Wizard at the inaugural Double or Nothing PPV in 2019. The Purveyor of Violence didn’t go straight after Jericho after he won the world title due to his iconic feud with Kenny Omega.
Mox and Jericho picked up their feud in the build to Revolution 2020. The road to Revolution was built on the blood, sweat and tears of the bitter rivals. Mox even lost his eye during one of the angles against Jericho and his Inner Circle. In the end, Moxley prevailed in his lone fight against the Inner Circle as he defeated Jericho for the world title.
MJF
MJF spent several months trying to infiltrate the Inner Circle. His attempts led to some of the most entertaining moments in AEW television history. Max and Chris Jericho had a musical in Le Dinner Debonair. They also joined forces briefly to feud with The Young Bucks.
The Dynamite Diamond Ring winner ultimately showed his true colors when he betrayed Jericho and the Inner Circle to form The Pinnacle. The shocking angle turned the Inner Circle faces and resulted in a war between the two factions. This led to their multi-man matches at Blood and Guts and Double or Nothing.
Kenny Omega
Chris Jericho was still a WWE superstar when he traveled to New Japan Pro Wrestling to feud with Kenny Omega. The two men had a five-star classic (the first and only five-star match of Jericho’s illustrious career) at Wrestle Kingdom 12.
Jericho and Omega fought to determine the number one contender for the inaugural AEW World Championship. The singles feud turned into a multi-man rivalry with the involvement of The Elite and the Inner Circle.
The true highlight of this feud was the first Stadium Stampede match at Double or Nothing 2020.
