#3.) WWE is still willing to gut SmackDown’s roster to improve RAW
What we saw in 2017 was history repeating itself. If you’re not aware or started watching WWE in the early 2010s, then you may not know that 2016 wasn’t the first time that SmackDown outdid RAW in terms of quality. Many years ago in the first brand split alone, there were a few periods where SmackDown was clearly the superior show and even beat RAW in the ratings at some points.
Since RAW was the flagship show that they needed to protect, they would take the most important SmackDown stars and put them on RAW, hoping to replicate that success. In 2017, the exact same thing happened when WWE took away SmackDown’s 3-4 most integral superstars and put them over on RAW.
