#4.) A better roster doesn’t mean a better product
After the WWE draft concluded in July 2016, there was an instant criticism among fans that RAW was given a far superior roster. In WWE’s minds, the justification would probably have been that since it was the longer show and the “flagship” show, they needed to have more star power on the show.
While there was a concern for the quality of SmackDown’s roster overall, those worries were quickly laid to rest when WWE proved that it’s not about how stacked the roster is – it’s about how you utilize the talent. One example is to compare the Women’s divisions in 2016. While RAW’s women’s division was being dominated and only Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks, SmackDown’s limited women’s roster was thriving because every single woman was being utilized and involved in various storylines – even non-title feuds.
Granted, Banks vs Charlotte was still an all-time great rivalry, but it was clear which women’s division was better.
