Although pro wrestling is all about storytelling, it really has been a while since we’ve seen any real character-driven stories that involved character progression and development. Apart from the Kofi Kingston rise to the top, there hasn’t been much of that this year and the 24/7 Championship is the unexpected answer to that.
The 24/7 championship has been very character-driven, which is why the “matches” for it have basically been irrelevant. Given that there have hardly been one or two official matches from bell to bell for the title, it’s clear that the story and the title is all about the comedy and the characters.
